THANK YOU!

As we look ahead to 2009, it is appropriate to reflect on the numerous strengths and achievements of the past year.

This was an amazing year of personal growth for me. The new friendships formed and strengthening of others was heartwarming.

I am honoured and privileged to have friends who are strongly motivated by service above self, hard and compassion. We also have a shared sense of decency, fairness, respect and tolerance for others.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you once again for all the love and support. I know I have also personally failed and disappointed some of you this past year. I promise to strive to do better everyday in the coming year.

As we welcome a new year, I hope we all continue to care for ourselves, each other, our nation and the land in which we are so lucky to live.

I wish all of you and your families a happy and fulfilling New Year.

I am delighted to extend to you my warmest greetings and best wishes for the Christmas season.

As we come to celebrate Christmas, I know that all of you will reflect on what a great privilege it is to be a Canadian and on the enormous opportunities this country has brought to all of its citizens.

As we face the difficult year ahead, let us end the year and come together at Christmas in an optimistic frame of mind as a nation and as a people. We are a prosperous and successful society - our living standards are high, we recognize the rich diversity of our culture - much to the envy of the world.

This special time of year is an excellent opportunity to celebrate and to show our appreciation for the many qualities that make Canada such a wonderful country in which to live.

But that should not blind us to underprivileged and unhappiness within our own communities. It’s very important that those of us who do enjoy a good life in this country help those of our fellow man who are less fortunate wherever we can.

Christmas is a time for catching up with old friends and, of course, spending even more time with our families. It is also an opportunity to reflect upon the deeper significance and spirituality of this time of the year.

I want to personally thank you for your kind support, friendship and love over the past year. Thank you for your support in my new position with Youth Can Move the World, at the 130th edition of the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE), the 3rd Mississauga Youth Games, my Maytree Leadership and Civic courses, and with the inaugural Leadership in Style Fashion Show for the United Way. I look forward to what lies ahead in 2009!

My family joins me in wishing you a Merry Christmas, as well as a peaceful and healthy New Year.
