“I want to congratulate our athletes and their coaches who performed to the very best of their abilities throughout the Beijing Games. Canada’s athletes rose to the occasion, providing exciting and memorable moments, which included personal bests and new national records. Canadians watched your outstanding performances with great pride and excitement, and we salute you.

Canadians share a strong passion for sport. From the playground to the podium, the values we learn from sport—teamwork, discipline, and confidence— are values that represent the very best of what it means to be Canadian.

Today I, like all Canadian Sports fans, am looking back with pride at the many memorable performances of our fellow Canadians at the 2008 Olympic Games. Now, we look forward to watching the performance of our paralympic athletes who will soon have their turn to live their Olympic dream.

I also look forward with great excitment as Canada prepares to hosts the next Olympics in Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Games.”

Appointment to the Go Transit Advisory Committee 0 Comments | Comment Now

I’m pleased to announce that I have been appointed to the new 15-member GO Transit Customer Service Advisory Committee effective August 2008. The committee will be responsible for reviewing customer concerns, complaints and expectations about GO services on behalf of the 190,000 daily passengers.

For the last 15 years my bedroom window has faced the Cooksville GO Station. As a result, I have developed an intimate awareness of when the system is running on time as I can hear and see the trains arriving and departing.

I am passionate about advancing the public transit agenda as it promotes environmental sustainability, builds strong urban communities, and most importantly, it encourages friendly social interaction among riders.

As a long-time daily and loyal user of the system, I am fully aware of the important responsibility and obligations that GO Transit has to people’s lives. I am confident I posses the necessary vision, insight, talent and energy to successfully help improve the GO system for all. I am honored by the endorsement of GO Transit to allow me to take part in this important responsibility.

Yours for an even GO Transit system for all!
